The Keys to Collingwood … Street Pianos set to sing again throughout Collingwood’s Historic Downtown

The Keys to Collingwood Festival on Civic Holiday Weekend marks the return of the popular Street Pianos! Beautifully restored pianos will be installed on the streets of Collingwood’s Historic Downtown for all to enjoy.  As we celebrate Collingwood’s 160th birthday this year, the pianos will feature iconic images commemorating our community’s history.

Twelve talented musicians are scheduled to play for more than 50 hours on the ten street pianos during the launch weekend. Performances are on Saturday, August 4th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continue on Sunday, August 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring music of all genres, including jazz, blues, rock, classical and gospel.

Returning again this year is the Monster Ground Foot Piano, located beside Collingwood’s Town Hall (under the clock tower). Come on downtown and let your dance moves create some musical tunes!

The popular ‘Piano Talks’ are back! Every Thursday in August, beginning at 10 a.m., enjoy a FREE, fun and informative walking tour of the Street Pianos. Along the way your guide will recount anecdotes about the town’s historic buildings and local legends. You can expect to be serenaded on the ivories at a few of the stops! Just meet under the Collingwood Town Clock (97 Hurontario Street) 10 minutes prior to the start time.

Remember… the fun continues through the month as the pianos remain on the streets for your pleasure and enjoyment. The unexpected often happens when someone sits down at one of these wonderful musical instruments.
