The Collingwood Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present a Power Lunch on Tues. Oct 10th at 11:45am with Guest Speaker – The Honourable Michael Wilson
Based on his years as a cabinet minister in the Mulroney government, as Canada’s Ambassador the U.S. and senior executive in the financial markets, Mr. Wilson will reflect on the similarities and differences from the past, in the state of relations between the U.S., Canada and other nations in such areas as trade, finance, workforce development, immigration, climate change, innovation and more.
With cabinet portfolios in finance, industry, trade, technology, as lead minister on the first NAFTA trade negotiation, and as a member of the diplomatic service, he is well qualified to consider lessons learned (or not), and see how they might apply in today’s ever changing and uncertain world.
Brief Bio Michael Wilson, a retired parliamentarian, served in the Mulroney Conservative Cabinet for ten years. His career as an accomplished businessman made him well qualified to become Minister of Finance and later Minister of Industry, Science and Technology. Notably, he was successful in negotiating and creating the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1989. From 2006 to 2009, he was Canada’s Ambassador to the United States. Now as an active contributor to many professional and community organizations, Mr. Wilson continues a life of service.
