Aug 15 2017 - Aug 19 2017
Gayety Theatre

Take a behind-the-scenes journey through the music of the ‘man behind the curtain’ in OVER THE RAINBOW: THE HAROLD ARLEN STORY. Conceived by the same team that last year brought us the smash hit ANY DREAM WILL DO: The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Get to know the magical Harold Arlen, the mystery man behind such hits as STORMY WEATHER, GET HAPPY, PAPER MOON, THE MAN THAT GOT AWAY, IF I ONLY HAD A BRAIN, AC-CENT-TCHU-ATE THE POSITIVE, COME RAIN OR COME SHINE, LET’S FALL IN LOVE, ONE FOR MY BABY, and of course the classic hit OVER THE RAINBOW.

Harold Arlen (February 15, 1905 – April 23, 1986) was an American composer of popular music, having written over 500 songs, a number of which have become known worldwide. In addition to composing the songs for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz (lyrics by E.Y. Harburg), including the classic “Over the Rainbow”, Arlen is a highly regarded contributor to the Great American Songbook.

August 15th-19th at The Historic Gayety Theatre; Featuring a cast direct from Stratford, Shaw, and Broadway, OVER THE RAINBOW will have your toes tapping as you take a musical trip to the past. For tickets call 705-445-2200
