Art on the Street returning in 2017: Call to artists
February 7, 2017
Only a few short months until Collingwood Art on the Street will return.
The Collingwood Parks, Recreation and Culture department and the Collingwood Downtown Business Improvement Area invites visual artists to submit designs and images to Collingwood Art on the Street 2017, an outdoor gallery of art banners and hand-painted chairs.
Now in its seventh year, AOTS showcases the diversity and talent of our creative community while enlivening the streets of Collingwood from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving weekend.
This year’s theme is “Collingwood Celebrates Canada.” It may inspire entries related to our community, culture, people, stories or natural surroundings. Entries are not limited to these keywords so feel free to be creative!
Local artists will design the chairs and submit images for banners which will decorate downtown Collingwood between May and October. The chairs will then be auctioned off during the Thanksgiving weekend.
The art banners and chairs will enhance our historic downtown core and will be a welcome sight and resting place for residents and visitors.
Artists must submit images of their artwork and chair design ideas by March 20, 2017. Visit collingwood.ca/artonthestreet for full details.
If you would like to support Art on the Street by sponsoring an art chair, contact Susan Nicholson at the Downtown BIA at 705-445-5595.
