Tracks to Business - Store 54

Tim Newton - Project Coordinator (left),
Samantha McInnis (centre) and Ryan Puloski (right) are working out of the
new "Store 54" in Downtown Collingwood.

Tracks To Business is now open in Downtown Collingwood. Manager Tim Newton says the new business has been created to help young people between the ages of 15 and 29 receive hands-on experience in running a business. The project will build awareness of entrepreneurship as a viable career option for youth. Tracks To Business is an arm of Tracks and is funded in part by the Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Participants benefit from working with mentors and the Business Manager by receiving ongoing direction in business practices and procedures. In addition, the young clients receive help in putting together a business plan. Newton says the Downtown Collingwood location can handle up to 8 young entrepreneurs at a time. The debut of Tracks To Business features 5 new businesses. They are Cammy Productions.com, White Lotus Yoga, Woodwomanroots Jewelry, 7th Helix and New Technology Computer Services. The experience is low risk for the young people as they are not expected to pay meaning they can operate out of Store 54 at a very low cost.

Store 54 is owned by Rick and Susan Lloyd and has been renovated to embrace the character and heritage of the Downtown Collingwood Heritage District. The building now features large store-front windows, hardwood floors and a tin ceiling.
