Trainlight is getting a lot of attention these days.
The band has performed at the Collingwood Downtown Farmers' Market on a couple of occasions this summer. You may have wandered by, heard the music, realized that you were listening to something special and then asked yourself; "Who are these guys?"
Trainlight is Christian Ferraro on piano and lead vocals, Dave Arkwright on drums and vocals, Pierce Pimiskern playing bass and Jordan Logan on lead guitar and vocals. The band looks up to styles of various musicians. Trainlight has drawn inspiration from Paul McCartney, Coldplay, The Police, U2, The Midway State, John Mayer, Lifehouse and Jann Arden to name a few.
Ferraro says the band's roots date back to his high school days. That was when he was impressed with what band member David Arkwright was doing musically at Collingwood Collegiate. The two musicians began working together and eventually formed the band. Ferraro said that this is the first summer that the band has worked hard to promote themselves through marketing initiatives and live performances.
"I was in Collingwood during Canada Day and I saw your band perform for the first time and I was absolutely stunned by how talented such a young group of musicians could be. Although I was in Collingwood, I do not live there, I live in Toronto. I've noticed that you guys have an upcoming show in Toronto on July 15th at The Horseshoe. I have already confirmed that I will definitely be there and I'll be bringing along a few of my friends with me" says Natasia on the band's facebook site. That's the way it works when you hear these guys perform ... you really, really like them right away.
Trainlight has been on the road this summer, including stops in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Halifax.
