A familiar face behind the Pharmacy counter at Stuart Ellis Pharmacy is retiring. Gene Peycha has handed over the day-to-day operation of the business to another familiar face, his daughter, Lesley Paul. Gene Peycha graduated from the University of Toronto, moving to Collingwood where he purchased Stuart Ellis Pharmacy in 1975. Gene's daughter Lesley graduated from Ferris State University in Michigan, specializing in Natural/Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy compounding as well as consultation services related to all female issues.

Gene Peycha and his daughter Lesley Paul cut the cake at a ceremony to announce the retirement of the well known, long time Collingwood Pharmacist. Friends, family and frequent visitors to Stuart Ellis Pharmacy were on hand to extend best wishes to Mr. Peycha in retirement and to congratulate Mrs. Paul on her new venture.

Business founder Stuart Ellis (above centre) congratulated Gene Peycha on his retirement and extended best wishes to Lesley Paul. "I left them with something good" Mr. Ellis said. Mr. Peycha, his daughter Lesley and the staff of Stuart Ellis Pharmacy continued to grow the business after Mr. Ellis retired. "We'll continue to call the business Stuart Ellis Pharmacy" Lesley Paul told the group that had gathered for the retirement ceremony. The original store housed a soda fountain and the pharmacist made the prescriptions from scratch. Stuart Ellis Pharmacy now operates at 169 Hurontario Street in Downtown Collingwood.
