Celebrating Canada Day
in Downtown Collingwood



Canada Day Celebrations where everywhere throughout the streets of Historic Downtown Collingwood. The Collingwood Festival for Canada began Saturday June 28th and continued to Tuesday July first, featuring live entertainment, children's activities, food and refreshments, a downtown farmers' market and sidewalk sale. The outdoor patios were filled throughout the weekend as visitors and Collingwood residents kicked back and enjoyed the long holiday weekend. Dean Hollin conducted guided walking tours throughout historic Downtown Collingwood, and, acted as host for the popular downtown Ghost Walks. The main street stage was alive with activity all weekend featuring live music and the Provincial Town Criers Competition, hosted by Collingwood Town Crier Ken Templeman.

At noon on July 1st, Downtown Collingwood hosted the Canadian Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony followed by greetings from Collingwood's Sister City Delegation from Katano Japan. Mayor Chris Carrier welcomed Ontario Lietenant Governor, Hon. David C. Onley, who extended greetings on behalf of the province. Following the ceremony, everyone was treated to a piece of the giant Canada Day birthday cake. Canada Day celebrations concluded with a giant fireworks display at dusk.
